Involve Youth Project Salthill operates 4 days per week offering programmes and activities for Young Travellers aged 10-24 years of age. Involve Salthill is an On Site project with its youth work building based within the Cul Tra Halting site in Galway City. Our programme schedule aims to support young people to reach their full potential. Programmes and activities are delivered through a range of methodologies that meet the young people where they are at, ensuring the best possible approach. Young Peoples development is supported through programme areas of Health, both Physical & Mental Health, Education, Employment, Wellbeing and Participation within Society.
Covid 19 – A new approach
Although traditional youth work is not taking place during these times, Involve Youth Project Salthill aims to continue our work plan through a blend of outreach and digital learning and supports. This is a completely new way of working with our young people and it ensures our communication is ongoing and our young people have continued support and assistance.
Outreach is delivered through the supply of Activity Packs to young people and their families. The main objective of the packs is to stay in touch with young people and empower them by continuing to provide programmes, activities and supports to ensure their wellbeing through:
Maintaining a positive approach
Developing new skills through pack activities and online tutorials
Information on Covid 19
Positive Mental and Physical Health
Communication is ongoing as Activities completed from the pack are sent to the youth workers who then uploads them through the Social Media platform of :
Facebook Involveyouthservice Ballinasloe&Loughrea
Involve Salthill have been working collaboratively with GTM(Galway Traveller Movement), Galway City Partnership and the HSE to ensure that HSE guidelines are understood and practised within the site.
